Daybreak Labs founder and serial entrepreneur\, George Farquar\, will discuss how he built a high-performing team at his last company\, Buzzkill Labs\, with a strategic hiring strategy that began with internships. \n\n\n\nAttendees will learn: \n\n\n\n\nTimeline for posting\, hiring\, and starting interns\n\n\n\nHow to create a Handshake account\n\n\n\nHow to structure an internship project so the company and intern both get value\n\n\n\nHow to retain effective interns and attract them as future FTEs\n\n\n\n\nAttendees are encouraged to bring their laptops so they can create their Handshake account with Kristi’s help during the workshop. \n\n\n\nABOUT KRISTI VANDERHOOF \n\n\n\nAs Career Center Coordinator at an award-winning community college\, Kristi finds it rewarding to match qualified students with an employer offering career-building opportunities. Employers change lives by offering young adults\, career changers\, refugees\, veterans\, and historically underrepresented students with internships and jobs that enable them to learn new skills related to their field of study.Kristi also helps employers find and foster new talent at Las Positas College by hosting job and internship fairs and on-site recruitment events\, administering Handshake (career services platform and job board)\, and promoting employers’ opportunities to relevant departments on campus.Her goal is to provide a welcoming environment for students seeking jobs\, internships\, and career guidance. He earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University.
